Shift Change; providing affordable, accessible and impactful group therapy that’s backed by neuroscience and endorsed by the World Health Organization.

So how does it work?

Shift Change utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a World Health Organization-endorsed therapy for trauma and stress which can be facilitated in groups without the need for people to verbalize their experiences.

EMDR's effectiveness is achieved in hours to days, not weeks to months, and its adaptability to various settings, including online platforms, allows for broad and diverse reach, ensuring mental health care is accessible to individuals, regardless of their location or circumstances.

  • Facilitated in groups, in person or online

  • Helps reprocess stress & trauma without talking aloud

  • Effective in as little as one group session

  • Lead by highly-qualified specialists

trau·ma

/ˈtrômə/

The experience of a stressful, frightening or distressing event that continues to impact your day-to-day functioning either physically, socially or emotionally.

When we understand how trauma is stored in the brain and body, we realise we can’t out-talk or simply ignore the distress.

Our Approach

Early intervention is at the heart of Shift Change’s mental health strategy.

Statistics show a marked decrease in the progression to chronic PTSD when a traumatic event can be reprocessed through EMDR within 90 days.

The EMDR group protocol, the ASSYST Group Intervention, is designed to provide this rapid support. Of the 10-20% of individuals who require further support following the ASSYST, we facilitate this, too.

  • “I’ve been to many therapists throughout my life who only scratched the surface; Kara’s therapy in conjunction with her method of EMDR have significantly increased my understanding of my trauma, created greater self acceptance, has afforded me the ability to self-soothe, and move through my healing journey with greater grace.”

  • “I am a woman in an executive role who is also a new mom navigating the balance of both these worlds. Kara has been my number one support on this journey and I owe so much of my self discovery and wins to her. She’s been a fantastic therapist, coach and supporter to have in my corner.”

  • “I was in full burnout and on stress leave when I started working with Kara. She helped me to understand how my internal programming had contributed to getting me to the state I was in, and used EMDR therapy to help me uncover my ‘not good enough’ story that drove my behaviour and decision making. This has helped me transform how I live and opened up opportunities I didn't know were possible before."

How to work with Shift Change to support your people…

  • Reach out today and we’ll customize a group therapy offering unique to your workplace or organization.

  • We’ll facilitate group EMDR therapy in person or online for up to 10 people at a time, as often as needed.

  • In as little as one session, your people will experience a reduction in stress levels and trauma symptoms.

“As the leading cause of stress for Canadian employees, workplace pressure has a tremendous impact on employees’ mental health. Because employees’ mental health is linked to both financial and nonfinancial outcomes, employers have an opportunity to reap benefits in both realms by implementing workplace mental health programs

Perhaps most importantly, demonstrating a commitment to employees’ mental health and well-being is becoming central to positioning the company as one that employees, customers, and society at large are proud to support.”

Good for people. Good for business.

EMDR's proven efficiency, grounded in the latest neuroscience, means employees can return to full productivity sooner, reducing the duration and associated costs of disability leaves.

Furthermore, its efficacy in treating trauma and stress-related conditions can lead to a healthier, more resilient workforce, ultimately enhancing organizational performance and individual’s wellbeing.
